Very much like its own landmark 20th Anniversary ACID sticks, Drew Estate’s ACID One cigars are designed for smokers who are more used to traditional cigar tastes, as opposed to “infused” cigars, which is what the ACID series was originally all about. Unlike other ACID cigars, the ACID One is claimed to be mostly non-aromatic.
That said, the ACID One is still an ACID smoke, and as such, it’s infused according to a top-secret, proprietary process that it undergoes in dedicated curing rooms at Drew Estate’s Gran Fabrica cigar factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. It’s just that, in the case of the ACID One, this process is purported to involve five assorted red wines from five different countries, rather than the usual 100-plus herbal, botanical and essential oils that are used in every other stick in the immensely popular ACID family.
Immaculately constructed, torpedo-shaped and bearing finely aged Nicaraguan binder and long-filler tobaccos encased in a milk chocolate-colored, cask-cured, Cameroon-seed wrapper, ACID One sticks are mild-to-medium-bodied, with medium strength.
According to Brooklyn urban/industrial/graffiti/motorcycle artist Scott Chester, who’s responsible for the ACID cigar name (and whose silhouette appears on all ACID packaging), “The ACID concept represents a lifestyle intended to depict a person who’s not afraid to explore the Earth or explore life, whether on a motorcycle, or in his own thoughts and expressions.”
ACID smokers are resolute explorers, and smokers of ACID One sticks undeniably fall into this category, regardless of how different the ACID One is from all other ACID smokes. ACID fans and non-fans alike are encouraged to try the ACID One and to compare it both to other ACID smokes and to traditional cigars to see how it stacks up.
