The CAO Mortal Coil, utilizes an age old tobacco fermentation process from the Dominican Republic that intensifies the flavor and aroma. A bundle of tobacco is wrapped in palm tree leaves then tied with ropes, the ropes are tightened compressing the tobacco, and then retightend over a course of months. The process doesn't generate as much heat compared to the more popular method of stacking the tobacco in piles (pilones) which gives the andullo tobacco its own unique taste.
Ricky Rodriguez blended together the Mortal Coil utilizing Dominican Andullo, Dominican Piloto Cubano, Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers bound together with a Connecticut Shade binder and topped off with Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. The result is a sweet spice with hints of nuttiness and cream.
